Maria L. Zanetti, age 81, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning September 8, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born August 16, 1932 in Fanna, Italy the daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth (Mion) Levorato. Maria married Santo L. Zanetti in Italy on August 22, 1953 and moved to Battle Creek in 1954. In 1976, Maria became a U.S. citizen, of which she was most proud. She was a charter member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, was an extraordinary seamstress and cook, and had a passion for gardening and flowers. Maria was a caregiver to all her family and many friends throughout the years and was very supportive of her husband in his business at Battle Creek Tile. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson: Andrew Zanetti and her dear friend: Elizabeth Binda. Surviving are her two sons: Frankie A. Zanetti and John L. (Anne) Zanetti; granddaughter: Alissa Zanetti; great-granddaughter: Raquel Smith; sister: Graziella (Enzo) Pontello; brother-in-law: Romeo (Lorraine) Zanetti; special cousins: Lena (Marion) Wood, Roy Mion and Marie Mion; and special friends: Gerri ter Avest, Tosca Albera, Margaret Jones and Rhonda Giese. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Jerome Catholic Church with The Very Rev. Mark J. Vyverman, V.F. officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
