Maria G Banks, age 67, of Battle Creek, MI and Port Charlotte, FL, passed away Tuesday, October 7th, 2014 at Oaklawn Hospital. She was born January 28th, 1947 in VeraCruz, Mexico the daughter of Filogonia and Carmen (Uranga) Acosta. Maria was married to Steven R. Banks on September 16th, 1973 in Southern California where they lived for many years before moving to Las Vegas, NV and, ultimately, the Battle Creek area. Maria was a licensed cosmetologist and owned her own salon for many years. For the last 15 years, she was the owner of Riverside Pub and Grill in Marshall. Maria loved traveling to be with her family. Her greatest enjoyment came from caring for and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved boat rides with her husband at sunset. Maria had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and cherished reading her Bible. She was a devoted wife, mother and Nana. She is survived by her husband and three children: Carmen (Kurt) Siebenaller of Beverly Hills, MI, April (Doug) Quinn of New York, NY and Andrew Banks and his fiance Hayley Morris of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren: Kurt II, Ryan and Maria Siebenaller, and Hudson, Malone, Sienna and Maeve Quinn; eight brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Battle Creek Friends Church, 1305 Olive Street with Rev. Kelly Hadlich officiating. A private interment will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Monday.
