Margaret Yonkman

Margaret R.  Yonkman, Age 78, Of Springfield, MI, Died Monday, August 10, 2015, in Battle Creek. Margaret was born on September 21, 1936, in Gainsbrough, England, the daughter of Appleton and Rosemary (Robinson) Birks. She had been an area resident since 1957 coming from England. She graduated from a prep school in England. She married Frederick H. Yonkman who preceded her in death in 1998.  In January of 1968, Margaret started working at Leila Hospital in the sterilization department and worked for 30 plus years until her retirement. She then worked at Continental Bakery. She was a member of Westlake Presbyterian Church, the Red Hat Society and enjoyed gardening and was devoted to her family and grandchildren.  Surviving are her daughters, Shirley A. (Rick) Slack, Karen S. Kartheu, Brenda L. Johnson and Jane M. Sheahon; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Anne Slack. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2015, at Westlake Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Kate Johnston officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Private entombment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson’s Association or Great Lakes Caring Hospice. Arrangements by the Richard A.
