Mareo Tabiadon

Mareo S. Tabiadon, 94, formerly of Battle Creek, Michigan, died on Sunday, April 08, 2012 at Greenleaf Health Campus in Elkhart, Indiana.  Mareo was born on May 30, 1917 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Louis and Anna (Rossi) Tabiadon.  The family moved to Battle Creek when he was three years old, where Mareo lived until February, 2009, when he moved to Elkhart to live with his daughter.  On June 13, 1942 he married Ina C. Smith in Battle Creek.  She died on June 25, 1994. Mareo is survived by his son David (Rosanna D’Amato) Tabiadon of Bitely, Michigan, his daughter Sharyn (James) Snyder of Elkhart, Indiana, his sister Rose Tabiadon of Battle Creek, four grandchildren, Tracy Tabiadon, Bryan Tabiadon, Jeff Snyder and Jennifer Snyder, and one great grandson, JJ Tabiadon. Mareo was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Joseph and Bruno Tabiadon, his sister Katherine Smith, and a great granddaughter, Summer Tabiadon. Mareo attended St. Thomas the Apostle church in Elkhart, and was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Battle Creek.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1941 through 1945, primarily in the Pacific.  Mareo retired from General Signal in 1980.  Previously he worked at Oliver Farm Equipment. He was a past president of the Italian-American Brotherhood, and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and bird hunting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 229 Collier Ave., Battle Creek.  Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Family and friends may visit at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent DePaul Society in Battle Creek.
