Battle Creek

Heaven gained an Angel today. Maggie Jean McKendrick, age 102 of Battle Creek went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 1, 2021. She was born September 28, 1918 in Clay County, Kentucky the daughter of Preston William and Frances Louise (Wyatt) Fields. Maggie was a traveler. She enjoyed seeing family, people, and places. She loved going dancing, shopping, fishing and shooting pool as well as going out to the movies and dinner. Maggie was known for her tenderness, kindness and devotion to God, family and friends. Many met her through her work at Briggs Pharmacy, Midway Roller Rink and being a landlord. Maggie was proud to be a Centenarian, an identical twin with her sister Marie and being voted Mother of the Year. Maggie is survived by her loving companion Edward (Ed) Hudson; children: Alice (Allen) Lee, Mossie Faye Mayo, William (Liz) McKendrick, Jr., Richard (Teresa) McKendrick and Kathleen (Darrel) Allred; nineteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Maggie was preceded in death by a son Hubert Lewis, two daughters: Shirley and Aggie McKendrick, granddaughter Laura Allred, grandson Randy Lees, two great-grandsons: Blake Crabtree and Maxton Keeler, two husbands: Ransom Lewis and William Campbell McKendrick, and her parents. Maggie was the last living member of her beloved siblings: Sisters: Sarah Lewis, Nancy Moore, Lizzie (Martha) Feltner, Katie (Margaret) Caswell, Mirtle Parker and Marie Joseph; and brothers: Billie, Isaac, Ardil, Timothy, Larkin, Biggie and Joe Fields. Maggie loved each and every one of us that knew her. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. www.henryfuneralhome.org
