Madeline L. Carrel, age 90, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016. She was born January 24, 1926 in Lansing, Michigan the daughter of Arlie and Edna (Guernsey) Wood. Madeline attended Battle Creek Central High School and retired from the Hudson Department Store where she had worked for many years. She enjoyed extensive travel throughout Europe with her husband Ken and they had lived various cities including Papua New Guinea; Tehran, Iran; London, England and Aberdeen, Scotland. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Kenneth E. Carrel, daughter: Kathy Ward, son-in-law: Richard Ward, great-granddaughter: Allison Daugherty and sister: Maxine Cuykendall. Madeline is survived by four children: Justin (Alice) Carrel of Houston, TX, Terry (Wendy) Mann of Bear Lake, MI, J.R. (Bonnie) Carrel of Clearwater, FL and Janice (Gary) Borden of Battle Creek, MI; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brother: Rodney Wood of Mackinaw City, MI and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
