Lydia Salinas

August 31, 1922 — December 8, 2015

Lydia Garcia Salinas, 93, of Battle Creek, died on Tuesday December 8, 2015 of natural causes. Lydia was born in Alice, Texas and has made Battle Creek her home since 1976. Lydia was well know through out the parish of Saint Joseph, where she sang with the Spanish choir, helped out with the Spanish speaking parishioners and gave of herself and helped out in any way she could including teaching catechism classes. Her kindness and selflessness will never be forgotten, especially when it came to her children. There wasn’t anything that she would not do for them. She will forever bring laughter to those who knew her. She would inadvertently twist words around and come up with a different meaning, and yet somehow, everything still made perfect sense – only a whole lot funnier! Her wit and loving heart were truly a blessing on this world. Lydia was preceded in death by her sisters Perla Lozano, Elma Perez, and brother Severo Garcia. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Cecilio Salinas, daughter Priscilla Flores, sons Daniel Salinas, Gary Salinas, and Sonny Salinas. In addition to her children, Lydia was a grandmother to 13 grand children and 6 great grand children. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Arrangements by the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. www.henryfuneralhome.org
