Lucille A. Harrison, 88, of Battle Creek passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013. Lucille was born March 3, 1925 in Beaver Dam, Ohio to Abraham Jacob and Mary Anna (Kramer) Losh. She was married to Merl Smith who passed away November 4, 1964 and Warren Harrison who passed away August 24, 2006. Lucille also had nine siblings who preceded her in death. Surviving are her children: Judy (Lee) Brigham of Midland, J. Lynn (Eileen) Smith of Battle Creek, Doug Smith and Garrett Brookmeyer of Galesburg; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and one sister Alice Yaney of Celina, OH. Lucille owned, raised and raced harness horses with her husband Merl and continued the tradition of horse racing with her husband Warren. They raced at many State Fairs, including those in Detroit and Chicago, and were both lifetime members of the Michigan Harness Horseman Association. She at one time was also secretary to her husband Merl’s restoration business, and was employed by Someplace Else and Inmans. In her younger years Lucille also obtained a certified beauticians license. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013 at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend, please meet in the Cortege Assembly area at the cemetery prior to the service.
