Lucille Armstrong

Lucille Armstrong, Age 92, Of Battle Creek, Died Thursday, April 2, 2015, with her family by her side. Lucille was born on January 16, 1923, in Monticello, MS, the daughter of Myra and Lois E. (Glover) Fairchild. She was a 1942 graduate of Monticello High School in Mississippi and worked for the U.S. Maritime Commission in Mobile, Alabama and then came to Battle Creek on October 10, 1946. On May 10, 1942, she was united in marriage to Robert Armstrong who preceded her in death in 2004. She was a former member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Lucille enjoyed knitting, reading, her flower garden and shopping. Surviving is daughter, Patricia J. McQuern of Battle Creek; 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; a half-sister, Marie Warner of Bogalusa, LA; special cousin, Marie Templet. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois E. Amsler; Step-father, William Amsler; step-mother, Marion Fairchild; father, Myra Fairchild; son, Robert Armstrong; daughter-in-law, Peggy Armstrong; son-in-law, Jerry McQuern. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 7:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
