Louis Arthur Wingfield, 83, of East Leroy, Michigan, died at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital on Nov. 2, 2012. Louis was a lifelong resident of Michigan, born in Detroit, and resided in East Leroy since 1965. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army, and had a 45 year career as a railroad engineer with Grand Trunk/Canadian National, retiring in 1993.
Louis could be seen every day, walking the “path” on Beckley Rd. with his faithful Great Dane, Charlie. He was an advocate for all animals throughout his life. Other interests included reading, traveling, politics, and sports.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, son Dennis of East Leroy, daughter Tracy Vanderford, of The Woodlands, TX, and a son Roger of New York City. He is also survived by grandchildren Emily of Charlotte, NC, and Bryce Vanderford of Spring, TX.
