Lorraine B. Hoyt

Lorraine B. Hoyt, age 58 of Kalamazoo, passed away August 23, 2023.  Lorraine was born and raised in Fresno, California, the daughter of William Lugo and Mary Ann (Scocozzi) Martinez. Shortly after high school she married Rick Hoyt and they moved to Michigan to begin their lives together and raise a family. They had two children, Tom and Jennifer. Most of her days she was a stay-at-home mom putting her kids first. Many hours were spent on the sidelines watching them play sports from T-ball all the way to college. Lorraine made her home the house all the kids wanted to hang out at. Whether the boys were outside playing basketball, or the girls were inside having a slumber party, Lorraine was always there to make sure everything went great. She was a mom to many. When Jennifer was into figure skating, they would travel from state to state for competitions and Lorraine really enjoyed those trips and was fully invested. She absolutely loved it when Tom was either on the football field or basketball court and Jennifer was on the sidelines as a cheerleader, she was so proud to watch them both. Lorraine was an awesome cook and loved to get creative in the kitchen with both Mexican and Italian dishes that she learned from her mom and dad. After 20 years the marriage sadly ended in divorce and about a year after that Lorraine was diagnosed with lupus. She battled through many procedures and operations. It was unbelievable how strong she stayed, always trying to be positive and the best she could while still trying to enjoy life with the kids and the grandkids. She will be greatly missed by many people on this earth, but it brings us peace to know that she is with God with no pain and no disease, hugging her mom and dad and sister. Lorraine is survived by her son Tommy (Jessica) Hoyt, daughter Jennifer (Nick) Dembowske, grandchildren: Baylee Wilk, Emmerson Hoyt, Adaleigh Hoyt, Kyrie Hoyt, Leighton Hoyt, Nolan Dembowske and Corbin Dembowske, sister Diane Harris, Brother Billy Martinez, nieces: Shannon Moore, Kaylee Harris, Erica Miss America Martinez, nephews: Justin Harris, Little Billy Martinez and Randy Martinez. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, sister Debbie Martinez and brother Anthony Martinez. Cremation has taken place and her services will be held in her hometown of Fresno, California at a later time. Arrangements by the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services. www.henryfuneralhome.org
