Loretta Helen Brandeberry

Loretta Helen (Gaskill) Brandeberry, 89, died peacefully at home on February 17, 2025, surrounded by her family and leaving a legacy of quiet strength and gentle kindness.

Loretta was born at Leila Hospital in Battle Creek, MI on June 27, 1935, to Glenn and Helen (Simmons) Gaskill. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1953. Loretta worked at Michigan Bell Telephone Company, her dad’s grocery store, Bob’s Market on Waubascon Lake Road, and for over 13 years at K-Mart, before retiring in 1988.

Loretta was a kind, sweet, and loving person who faced every challenge in her life with grace, never speaking much but always saying enough. She took life as it came, embracing both joy and hardship. She loved to laugh, and it was contagious. When she smiled everyone around her smiled too. Her gentle nature and warm heart brought joy and comfort to her family and friends. Loretta’s kindness was evident in her everyday actions, always ready to lend a helping hand. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Lorreta was married to Howard “Bing” Morris and Fredrick Eugene Brandeberry. Both marriages ended in divorce.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, her three sons, Michael Scott Brandeberry (November 1962), Steven Eugene Brandeberry (June 2003) and David Neville Morris (November 2007) and her brother-in-law Vernon Joseph Herzing (June 2022). She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Ann Brandeberry, her sister, Joan Herzing; nieces, Cynthia (John) Bauman and Kimberly (Wesley) Newton, three great nephews; Michael (Allyson) Bauman, Thomas (Hattie) Bauman and Nicholas Newton; three great-great nephews; Ben, Henry and Brooks Bauman and one great-great niece, Maggie Mae Bauman. A private funeral will be held for the family.
