Lorene L. Mutch, Age 88, Of Danville, IL, Died August 4, 2011, while residing at North Logan Care Center. She was born on February 12, 1923, in Fonde, Kentucky, the daughter of Charles and Maggie Whited. She and her parents moved to Monroe, Michigan soon after she was born. Her parents were charter members of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Monroe. She spent 35 years growing up in Battle Creek before moving to Danville to be with her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Don Hendricks. She was divorced from Herschel Hughes, a minister after 16 years of marriage. She married Harry Mutch, April 15, 1972; he preceded her in death in 2005. They enjoyed a second home in Casa Grande, AZ and for 22 years spent their winters there. They both were avid golfers and were able to have two summers escaping the cold of Michigan. Lorene loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and served in many areas of church life. She was an active member of First Wesleyan Church on Helmer Road in Battle Creek. She taught in CYC, a boys and girls club, served as a greeter for worship services, helped at the church office, and was active in the Winning Women’s ministry of the church. She helped to organize the first prayer chain for people. Recently she helped with bulletins at the First Church of the Nazerene in Danville. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, knitting, golf and working with mind challenging puzzles. Lorene is survived by her two children, Charles E. (Gayle) Hughes of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Dianne K. (Don) Hendricks of Danville, IL; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. H. Vaughn (Faye) Whited of Las Vegas, Alvin Whited of Taylor, MI; a sister, Lyllus McHargue of Monroe, MI; and a special friend, Sherri Douglas of Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by a baby sister, her parents and a brother, Donald G. Whited. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with The Rev. Dr. Robert L. Zuhl officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday. Entombment will be at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
