Lorena Rogers

Lorena Mae Rogers, age 94, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013. She was born July 15, 1919 in Midway, Indiana the youngest of seven children to Lee and Ada (Royer) Gourley. Mrs. Rogers worked at the V.A. Hospital for 27 years as a patient benefit coordinator from which she retired. She was a life member of American Legion Post #298 Auxiliary, Maple United Methodist Church and O.E.S. Chapter #471. On February 23, 1943 she was married to Bunnie E. Rogers, who preceded her in death on December 23, 1990. She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Glenda Mae VandenBrink; two granddaughters: Raynell Keithley and Kate Jenkins; five brothers and one sister. Surviving are two daughters: Donna Ainsworth of Battle Creek and Bonnie Rhoads of Tyler, TX; two step-children: Rosalie Will of Evansville, IN and Dan Rogers of Gettysburg, PA; son-in-law: Thomas VandenBrink of Battle Creek; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Linda D. Stoddard officiating. Interment will follow at Bedford Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today.
