Lionel Burgess, age 67 of Battle Creek, passed away on May 16, 2021, at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born on June 9, 1953, in Battle Creek, the son of Arthur and Evelyn (Stubbs) Burgess. Lionel attended Battle Creek Central High School and worked as a machinist for Clark Equipment Company. He was a jack of all trades, never holding down a regular job. But always working or on his way to work. He loved fishing, dominos and spades, watching Andy Griffith and being outside at any season. Lionel loved his friends and family and was always willing to help others. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother; Anna Burgess, son; Jerome Carson, sister; Lynda (Burgess) Bouyer, and brother; Gregory L. Burgess. To cherish his memory, he is survived by son; Lionel Clark, sisters; Deboraha L. (Victor) Sallee, Valerie (Archie) Murphy, granddaughter; Jalisa, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 703 Capital Ave. SW, Battle Creek.
