Linnea A. “Lyn” Oliver, 79, of Athens died Wednesday January 1, 2014 at home. She was born on October 4, 1934 in Battle Creek to Henning and Esther (Olsen) Lindberg. Lyn graduated from Lakeview High School in 1952. She was united in marriage on April 5, 1953 to Donald E. Oliver, he preceded her in death on June 11, 2008. Lyn was employed by Lakeview Schools from 1976 to 1986.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Daniel) Bumford, of Athens, grandsons, Steven, Adam, and Casey McCleary, a granddaughter, Lindsay Bumford, three great grandchildren, and a brother, C. David Darling, of Phoenix, AZ. Lyn was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joyce Simpson.
She is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. Lyn was a volunteer at the Food Bank and Safe Place. She enjoyed singing for weddings, crocheting, cross stitch, and when she was younger, the Civic Theater. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, cats, and her dogs.
Family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm Sunday January 5, 2014 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church and/or Alley Cat Angels of Battle Creek.
