Lillian Marie Rose (Charette) Smith, Age 87, Passed away peacefully at the Upjohn Community Care Center in Kalamazoo on August 14, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 20, 1927, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Eugene A. and Bernadette (Boivin) Charette. She was a 1945 graduate of St. Philip High School. She assisted her parents in the running of the French Curtain laundry for many years and then was employed at Transamerica Insurance Company as an underwriter for 30 years. Lillian married Earl V. Smith on July 19, 1947 and enjoyed 57 years together. He preceded her in death in 2004. She is survived by three children, Daniel J. (Sonya) Smith of Battle Creek, Kristine (James) Meier of Portage and Michelle (James) Cvetnich of Fort Mohave, AZ; six grandchildren; Gregory (Nicole) Cvetnich of Henderson, NV, Nicole (Sean) Frank of Vicksburg, MI, Jonathan (Andrea) Shaner of Grand Rapids, MI, Sara (Michael) Truax of Galesburg, MI, April Cvetnich of Laughlin, NV and Brad Shaner of Muskegon, MI; 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Jean D. Charette of Adrian, MI and her dearest friend, Kay St. Pierre of Battle Creek. Lillian was a very caring mother who offered love and moral support to all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was there whenever needed to assist with the care of her grandchildren who all dearly cherish their many times with their grandparents. Lillian was also a member of the Riverside Country Club and played for many years in their women’s leagues. Lillian and her family were charter members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home Tuesday from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
