Leonard Srackangast

Leonard Eugene Srackangast, age 70, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at his home. He was born April 8, 1944 in Galesburg, Michigan the son of Wayne Ezra and Helen Irene (Fugmann) Srackangast. Leonard graduated from Galesburg High School where he was a nose tackle on the state championship football team and went on to play football in college. He retired from Western Michigan University in management and was active at the Galesburg Speedway as a driver, announcer and flagman for many years. Surviving are his children: Steve (Regena) Srackangast of Tucson, AZ and April (Kirt) Deitrick of Wellington, NV; three grandchildren: Brooke Srackangast, Zach Dietrick and Jessica (Brett) Bindley; brother: Robert (Janet) Srackangast of Galesburg and his children: Shelly, Guy and Dana; and three nephews: Tim and Arney Srackangast and Charles Williams. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: George and Gerald and one sister: Donna. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at his home.
