Leonard Rizor

October 12, 1935 — February 22, 2015

Leonard D. Rizor passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, February 22, 2015. The son of Warren and Helen (Zimmerman) Rizor, was born in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1935.  He was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School (1953), Kellogg Community College (1975), a veteran of the Michigan Air National Guard, and the United States Air Force Reserve.  Leonard was active in the community throughout his life in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Y’s Men’s Club, and the Boy Scouts of America as a Merit Badge Counselor.  His dreams were fulfilled through the establishment of the L&D Bar R Ranch where he was able to raise many animals and work the farm.   Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, photography, and sharing these experiences with many people who journeyed along his path.   He retired from MSI in 1997 and was a beloved member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  On November 14, 1987 in Battle Creek, Leonard was united in marriage to D. Diane Williams.  Surviving are one brother Donald Rizor; two sisters Barbara Rizor, Bonnie (Dick) Howell; three daughters Julie (Tim) Chaney, Sharie (Sidney) Falan, Connie Emmons; son Bruce (Diane) Rizor; three stepdaughters Cheryl Button, Connie (John) Napier, Carolyn (Robert) Collins; one stepson Michael Kilbourn; 21 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.  A visitation will be held 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Marshall, Michigan and a Memorial Service will be held 5:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the church followed by a dinner at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Marshall, Michigan.  Memorial contributions may be made to National Shingles Foundation or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Leonard often described himself as being “fantastic” and hoped that you might feel just as good.  In parting, he strongly advocated for and believed that anything can be achieved with proper effort and attitude.
