Leon W. “Lee” White, age 79, of Battle Creek, passed away on March 8, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 6, 1945, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of James and Esther (Bailey) White Sr. Lee graduated from Alma High School in 1963, then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Alma College. Lee proudly served three tours in Vietnam in the United States Army. He continued his government service at the Federal Center before retiring on January 3, 2004, after 31 years of service. Lee was a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Board of Directors of Advia Credit Union (Formerly D.O.D. Credit Union), Board of Director for Habitat for Humanity, member of the American Legion and volunteered with HOST at Battle Creek Public Schools. Lee was united in marriage to Carol Ann (Hammelman) White on December 18, 1971, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alma, Michigan, she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Lynn (Trevor) Bailey of Muskegon, MI., granddaughter, Harper Leigh (Austin) Elliott of Muskegon, MI., grandson, Chase Patrick Bailey of Providence, RI., great grandson, Leo Duncan Elliott, and several nieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by his parents and ten brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, where the Recitation of The Rosary will take place at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Mass is scheduled for 12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, inurnment will take place with military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity or St. Joseph Catholic Church. Memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
