Lena Wood

Lena R. Wood, age 91, of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Lakeview Senior Living. She was born February 18, 1926 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Otto O. and Elisa E. (Marchis) Maddalena. Lena was a 1944 graduate of St. Philip Catholic Central High School and remained close to her classmates throughout the years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Women’s Guild, member of Leila Auxiliary and Club Italia. On February 7, 1948 Lena was married to Marion M. “Woodie” Wood who preceded her in death on March 2, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Fortunata and Aldo Maddalena. Lena is survived by her children: Mike (Mary) Wood of Sterling Heights, Tom (Susan) Wood of Battle Creek and Dave Wood of Dowling; six grandchildren: Jason, Amy, Kelly, Jeremy, Marissa (Marvin) and Bonnie (David); eight great-grandchildren: Madison, Mariyanna, Maxwell, Marley, Malachi, Kaylynn, Oliver and Sloane. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
