Lawrence R. Gibbons

Died on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. Lawrence was born on February 8, 1945, in Battle Creek, the son of Richard A. and Zella L. (Jenkins) Gibbons. He had been a lifelong resident and was a graduate of Harper Creek High School . He served in the armed forces as a U.S. Army Staff Sargent. Lawrence went to trade school and became a Journeyman Machine Repairman. He worked for Eaton Manufacturing and then at the General Motors Comstock Plant until his retirement. On January 8, 1965, he was united in marriage to the former Linda Oversmith who preceded him in death in 2004, along with his sister Bonnie Taft (2020), and her husband Robert Taft (2021), niece Tamara Allison (2023). He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He made several trips to Alaska, one of his favorite places to spend time watching wildlife. He also had a profound love for Beagles especially Lucky, Barkley, & Ruger. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, National Wild Turkey Foundation, Michigan Bow HHunters, and Wild Sheep Foundation among many other outdoor related associations. Surviving are his sons, John (Torie) Gibbons and James Gibbons; grandchildren, Ava Facundo, Addison Gibbons, Erin Gibbons, & Shannon Gibbons, nephews Steve Taft, Steve Allison, great nephew Tim Westenbroek; his significant other, Debbie Weiss, her son Craig Lynn(Julianne Vi) Weiss, and their children; Olivia Lynn Weiss, Gwyneth Vi Weiss, Margaret Ainsley and Vivian Leona Weiss

In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services with visitation starting at 1:00pm.
