Laura "June" Coller Slocum Eisen

Laura “June” Coller Slocum Eisen, Age 89, Of Battle Creek, Passed on Monday, October 6, 2014, at Heritage Assisted Living. She was born August 27, 1925, in Lee Township, Marshall, Michigan, the second of nine children to Edison and Leola (Tooker) Coller. June attended the Oak Grove School and graduated in 1944 from Marshall High School. After high school June worked at Eaton Mfg. during WWII. Later she worked for Mr. Dexter in Wolverine Tower. June took a position with Dr. Amos Sr. continuing with Dr. Amos Jr., Huntington, Comai and Morgan, retiring after 27 years. Her retirement gift from the doctors was a hot air balloon ride. June married Reginald “Reggie” Slocum on June 2, 1945. They had 2 daughters, Pat (Bruce) Kronlein of The Villages, FL and Jane (Doug) Baker of Augusta. Reggie died in 1984. June remarried in 1987 to Eric Eisen, extending her family with two sons, Dave (Diane) Eisen and Eric J. (Eiko) Eisen of Battle Creek. June is survived by her husband, Eric, 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Joan Strong, Mary Wright Blankenburg; brothers, Keith (Doris) Coller and Bill (Sue) Coller and special sister-in-law, Margie Ward; best friend, Ella Reniger and special family member, Mike (Toni) Gutsue. Preceding her in death were her husband, Reggie; brothers, Norris, Bob and Dick Coller and sister, Juanita Shear. June’s interest included deer hunting in Michigan and Wyoming, fishing, camping, her flower garden, dancing and traveling in the United States as well as trips in Europe. She spent many weekends attending hydro-plane boat races also. June volunteered at her church, Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Of course spending time with her family was top on her list, whether it was attending the Coller Christmas, the McNees reunion or hanging out with her beloved family. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 6:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. The celebration of June’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2014, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. A private interment will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be given to The Food Bank, the Humane Society of South Central MI or Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice. www.henryfuneralhome.org
