Laura Janus, age 84, of Corpus Christi, TX and formerly of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014. She was born March 29, 1930 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Orville and Dorothy (Case) Smith, Sr. Mrs. Janus had been a resident of Battle Creek for most of her life and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Since residing in Texas with her daughter, she was a member of St. Patrick Church in Corpus Christi. She was a very talented lady who loved drawing, wrote poetry, and enjoyed painting, crocheting and knitting. A loving mother, sister and friend, she will be greatly missed. On May 9, 1953 Laura married Andrew Janus who preceded her in death on February 8, 1996. Laura is survived by three children: Jeanie Evans of Corpus Christi, TX, Danny Janus of East Leroy and June Horwath of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; one sister: Donna Porter of Battle Creek and two cousins: Betty Patterson and Eleanor Kennedy both of Battle Creek. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Very Rev. Mark J. Vyverman, VF officiating. Interment will be conducted Monday, May 12th at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Richard A.
