Kenneth J. Siemen, 84, of Battle Creek passed away Wednesday September 26, 2012 at his home. He was born on May 4, 1928 in Port Huron, MI to Howard and Rose (Marone) Siemen.
Ken graduated from Port Huron High School in 1946. He then served in the U.S. Navy during WWII at Adak, Aleutian Islands, Alaska. Ken married Elizabeth A. Hebner on April 10, 1948, she preceded him in death in 1998. He then married Frances R. Williams, she preceded him in death in 2003. Ken was then united in marriage to Nancy Lawson, who survives. Ken was employed by Grand Trunk Western Railroad for 39 years retiring in 1987.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy, sons, Kenneth J. (Lisa) Siemen, of Yorkville, IL and Steven A. (Paula) Siemen, of Battle Creek, daughters, Karen M. (John) Manser, of Jackson, MI and Patricia A. (Franz) Fanuka, of Fredericksburg, VA; twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, brothers, Howard J. (Gloria) Siemen, of Port Huron, MI and Harold R.(Jan) Siemen, of Sterling Heights, MI and a sister, Gloria E.(Robert) Reed, of Ft. Gratiot, MI. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristi Curtis and a sister, Marie E. Marczan.
Ken was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church. He played softball for 20 years on the Polk County Senior League and was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame in 2007 in Lakeland FL. Ken enjoyed woodworking and golfing.
Family will receive friends from 10 am to 11am Saturday at St. Philip Catholic Church where a Mass will be held at 11 am Saturday September 29, 2012 with The Rev. Frances Marotti officiating. Burial of his ashes will take place on Monday 10:30 am at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to St. Philip Catholic Church.
