Kenneth W. DeLoof Age 87 Of Battle Creek, Died Saturday, May 7, 2011, surrounded by his family. Kenneth was born on July 8, 1923, in Kalamazoo, the son of Gerard and Gertrude (Brunstein) DeLoof. Ken devoted his life to his wife and family. He was a Corporal serving in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific. He moved to the Battle Creek area after WWII. In 1947 he was united in marriage to Marian H. Schelb who survives. Ken was employed as a supervisor for Michigan Bell Telephone for 35 years retiring in 1978. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Michigan Bell Pioneers and the Wally Byum Airstream Club. He enjoyed traveling, watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities, volunteering at East Leroy Elementary and helping his family. Surviving are children, Kenneth R. (Kitty) DeLoof, Marlene (Tom) Fraser and Rick (Kim) DeLoof; grandchildren, Cathie Cate, Tiffany Jackman, Jamie Vogel, Mike DeLoof, Mark Fraser, Kristy and Aaron DeLoof; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Gerard DeLoof. He was preceded in death by a son, Ron; a grandson, Matt Fraser and 2 sisters. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the First Congregational Church, 145 Capital Ave. N.E. with The Rev. Thomas J. Ott officiating.
