Kenneth S. Crane, 98, of Battle Creek passed away Friday September 27, 2013 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born on June 1, 1915 in Freesoil, MI to Ernest and Myrtle (Irish) Crane.
Kenneth graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1935. He was united in marriage on November 26, 1936 to Ruth M. Keathley, she preceded him in death in 2002. Ken was employed by United Steel and Wire for 38 years until he retired in 1977. He also had a Dairy Farm for 25 years.
He is survived by a son, William K. (Cindy) Crane, of Union City, a daughter, Ruth Ann (Ken) Craven, of East Leroy, four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, brothers, Charles Crane, of Burlington and Dale Crane, of Muskegon. Ken was also preceded in death by his sisters, Vivian Wygant, Velva Rozeil, and Gladys Troglen.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, served on the Burlington Twp. Board, and was Past President of the Union City School Board. Ken was also a Cub Master and a 4H Leader. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, square dancing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held 1:30pm Wednesday October 2, 2013 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Steven A. Shafe officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends 1 hour before services. Memorial contributions may be given to Union City Schools Alumni Scholarship Fund or Caring Community Church, Albion, MI.
