Kenneth Conine

Kenneth N. Conine, Jr., age 74, of Battle Creek, died Friday, April 17, 2015. He was born March 8, 1941 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Kenneth Herbert and Anna Irene (Ernsberger) Conine. Ken was a member of the first graduating class from Harper Creek High School in 1960 and later worked at Post Cereals for 13 years prior to his retirement for health reasons. He was an avid fisherman and woodworker, and enjoyed bowling, camping and riding dirt bikes in his early years. Ken also liked watching football, especially the Detroit Lions and Michigan Wolverines. In July of 1960 he married Luella (Sivits) and they divorced in 1971. Later on February 27, 1972 Ken was married to Mary A. (Nelson) who survives. Also surviving are four sons: Kenneth (Dawn) Conine III of Battle Creek, Tony Conine of Battle Creek, Brian (Tina) Conine of Union City and Tony Conine Jr. of Holiday, FL; ten grandchildren and one great-grandson; brother: Wayne (Ava) Conine of Battle Creek; sister: Joanne Layne of Chicago, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: William Conine and sister: Gloria Frey. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with interment to follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
