Keith Lewis

Keith Michael Lewis, age 73, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on October 29, 2024, surrounded by his family at Centrica Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo. He was born on June 30, 1951, in Battle Creek, the son of Homer Lewis and Gordon and Shirley Wilkey (Fleck). He attended Battle Creek Public schools and attended Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek. He worked for Grand Trunk Railroad and was retired. Keith was preceded in death by his parents and his children, Neil Michael Lewis and Dayna Rachel Lewis. Keith is survived by his daughter, Annissa Joy Lewis, grandchildren, Samuel Willie Dark and Joseph Michael Lewis, and great granddaughter Kiera Maria Dark.

Keith was a man of integrity and kindness, whose life was a testament to strength and resilience. After decades of hard work, Keith enjoyed his retirement taking walks with his dog Riley, caring for plants, growing and maintaining a pristine lawn, riding his motorcycle, and reading the news. Politics were important to him. Those who knew Keith fondly recall the depth of his conversations, highlighted by his thoughtful nature and insightful perspective on life's many intricacies. Keith’s most favorite thing to do was spending time and making memories with his family. He was a guiding light and source of unwavering support.

Keith was a man of faith, trusting God in all circumstances. Keith quietly battled cancer through prayer, radiation, chemotherapy, and brain surgery, with hope and peace, knowing he would be accepted into the loving arms of Jesus Christ, his Savior, upon his passing. He awaits in Heaven, to be reunited with his surviving family. May his memory bring comfort and his soul rest eternally in peace.

Prior to his passing, Keith expressed much gratitude to his first wife Deborah Trescott, who encouraged him to seek care for ongoing, chronic shoulder pain that resulted in a cancer diagnosis, back in December of 2023. This diagnosis allowed him to continue to spend his remainder of his life purposefully, with his family who deeply loved him.

A private family memorial will be held to honor the life of Keith Michael Lewis.
