Kathryn Reed

Kathryn M. Reed, 91, of Battle Creek passed away Saturday September 17, 2011 at Heartland Health Center.  She was born on October 6, 1919 in Barry County, MI to Asa K. and Alfretta (Dingman) Stanton. Kay graduated from Lakeview High School in 1939. On May 25, 1940 she was married to Warren W. Reed in Angola, IN. Kay was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are, a son, Edward (Marilyn) Reed, of South Haven and Mountain View, CA; five grandchildren, Brian Reed and Jennifer Reed, both of Washington, Jennifer (David) Kostic, of Ohio, Bryon (Victoria) Macron of Ohio, and Mark Reed, of California, brothers, William (Shirley) Stanton and Harry (Dorene) Stanton, both of Vermontville, MI;  sisters, Josephine Morse, of Grand Rapids, MI; Clara (Francis) Squires, of Charlotte, MI and Florida, two sister-in-laws, Leona Spencer and Jeanette Sidnam, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren, after 68 years of marriage, brothers, Clare and James Stanton, and sisters, Dorothy Mead-Maclatchen and Ruth Green. Funeral services will be held 1pm Friday September 23, 2011 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Patricia Weatherwax of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Battle Creek Host Lions Club.
