Kathleen Winchell

Kathleen M. Winchell, age 96, of Augusta, Michigan, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014. She was born December 1, 1917 in Marshall, Michigan the daughter of Darwin and Bertha (Lockwood) Burrows. A 1937 graduate of Marshall High School, she went on to attend Beauty School at Laura Bailes School in Jackson and then operated her own shop in Verona until 1970. Mrs. Winchell had been a member of First Congregational Church of Battle Creek and later attended Christ United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. On February 26, 1944 she married Willis W. Winchell in Auburn, Indiana and he preceded her in death on December 3, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her brother Duane Burrows, her sister Marjorie Robertson and two grandchildren. Surviving are three children: Theron J. (Karen) Winchell of Augusta, Jeffery L. Winchell of Griffin, Georgia and Galen A. (Tammy) Winchell of Newnan, Georgia; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marshall. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in her name may be given to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice. www.henryfuneralhome.org
