Kathleen Alspaugh

Kathleen  M.  Alspaugh, Age 83, Of Battle Creek, Died Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital. Kathleen was born on January 28, 1930, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Evelyn (Sieks) Ward. She had been an area resident since 1935 and was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. She attended Mercy College in Detroit and received a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse at the V.A. Medical Center for 34 years retiring in January of 1996. On February 2, 1952, she was united in marriage to William H. Alspaugh who preceded her in death on September 13, 2000. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Kathleen enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida, going out with her friends she worked with and was active in the railroad retirement group. Surviving are sons, Timothy W. Alspaugh of Coldwater and Patrick W. Alspaugh of Kalamazoo. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson Ryan Alspaugh in 1996. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:00 p.m., Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Very Rev. Mark J. Vyverman, V.F., officiating.
