Kathie M. Thomason, age 48 and Howard R. Bergman, age 60, of East Leroy, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017. Together for 30 years, they loved their time spent with each other and died as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. They were members of Binder Park Zoo were they spent many summer days, enjoyed biking, grilling and fishing at Fort Custer State Park, flea markets and bargain hunting. Kathie was born January 1, 1969 in Chattanooga, Tennessee the daughter of Tommy Steve and Helen Marie (Hall) Thomason. She was a waitress at Pizza Hut for 30 years and loved meeting and talking to everyone. Howard was born September 6, 1956 in Port Huron the son of Howard Robert and Mary J. Bergman. He received an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Kellogg Community College, worked for the Grand Trunk Railroad and enjoyed playing chess and weightlifting. Together they have five children: Jason Rosales, Melissa Connick, Lisa Bergman, Trent Bergman and Alex Bergman, and many grandchildren. Kathie also has two brothers surviving: Steven (Donna) Thomason of Chattanooga, TN and Jeffrey (Nicole) Thomason of Battle Creek. Howard is also survived by a brother: Mike Bergman and sisters: Diane Bergman, Vicky Scott, Rosemary Bergman, Denise Driscoll, Laurie Snyder, Mildred Bergman and Mary Aviles Bergman. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with interment to follow at Leroy Congregational Cemetery.
