Katherine Richardson

Katherine M.  "Cookie" Richardson, Age 82, Of Houghton Lake, MI, Formerly of Battle Creek, Died Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Medilodge of Sterling. Katherine was born on August 31, 1930, in Orangeville, Twp., MI, the daughter of Harold and Gertrude (Schissler) Jones. She had been a resident of the area until 1985. On June 11, 1949, she was united in marriage to Robert D. Richardson who preceded her in death in 2009. Katherine owned the Prince and Princess Shop in Battle Creek for many years before moving up north where she and her husband owned and operated The Tradewinds Resort for 10 years. She enjoyed craft shows and was a member of an arts and crafts association. Surviving are children, James R. (Tina) Richardson of Bentley, MI, and Robyn E. Heckman of Kalamazoo; 3 grandchildren, Geoffrey and Brien Heckman both of Kalamazoo and Amber Judge of Lansing; 4 step-grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Carolyn (John) Cochran of Kalkaska, MI, and Elizabeth (Bill) Mowry of Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 6 brothers. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Chapel.
