Katherine Dunlap

Katherine Louise Dunlap, age 64, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 7, 2020, with her family at her side. She was born January 6, 1956, in Battle Creek, MI, to John and Beatrice Lake. She was a 1974 graduate of Union City High School, as well as Kellogg Community College, graduating with honors with an associate degree in Graphic Design.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Dan, of 39 years; her children, Andrea, Deanna (Brian), and Phillip (Eryn); her beautiful grandchildren, Kaileigh, Phoenix, Stella, Alex, and Collin; as well as her mother and sisters. Her children and grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy. She enjoyed nurturing them with wisdom, patience, and love at every opportunity.  She was preceeded in death by her father, John R., and brother, John B.

Kathy held postitions at Security National Bank, CityLinC Ministries, and Battle Creek Health Sytems, among others throughout her career. She was passionate about serving her community at Battle Creek Friends Church, serving many years with the children and teen ministries.

In life, Kathy enjoyed gardening, traveling, NASCAR, adventuring in northern Michigan, and attending the Mackinac Bridge Walk. Those who met her would say Kathy was a very generous, caring, and giving person. She was a  woman of great integrity who was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Kathy met her decades long health battles with incredible courage, grace, strength, tenacity, perseverance, and a fighting spirit, inspiring to many people. Through many years of struggle against great adversity, she never gave up her hope and plans for recovery.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Safe Place ( http://www.safeplaceshelter.org/ ) in her honor.
