Julious Foster McLaurine Sr. was called home to eternal rest on November 2, 2019 at 2:05 a.m. He was surrounded by his family and friends during his last days with as much positive energy as those present could achieve. Julious, the youngest of three was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, on July 20, 1944, to Cary Allen McLaurine Jr. and Julia Corrine (Speights) McLaurine. Julious, who was affectionately known by his family and friends as ‘Mac’ or ‘Ju’. graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1962. He then enlisted in the US Army and served a total of three years with the prestigious Old Guard, in the Honor Guard Company in Washington D.C. While in the Army he fell in love with Martial Arts. After his Honorable discharge from the Army, he worked as a Warrant Officer with the Battle Creek Police Department, Battle Creek, Michigan. He also worked for Consumers Power Company in Battle Creek. Julious had many interests and excelled at all of them. He owned a Karate School, Day Care and Limo service and worked faithfully for the community. He also worked in security and had numerous clients including the Governor of Michigan, movie stars and producers in Hollywood, California. Julious accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age and preached the Gospel at Pennsylvania Avenue Original Church of God. He also served as the Chaplain for the football and basketball teams at his Alma Mater Battle Creek Central High School, Battle Creek, Michigan. Julious was a charismatic, warm and friendly man. He was a true lover and fighter and even in the later stages of Alzheimer's, he always made you feel welcomed like family. Julious loved sports, especially football, his favorite team was the New Orleans Saints. Julious is survived by his wife Yuen Serena (separated) and their children Julia, Julious Jr. and Joshua; Brittney Freeman; first wife Stephanie and children Rachel (Dwayne) Holland and Julious John (Melissa) McLaurine, grandchildren: Ashton Denise, Aniya Breann and Amira Kathleen Holland, Julious Stefon, Emmanuel Cary and John Prince McLaurine; daughter, Jeanna (Tim)Woodson Latiesha, Latoya and Donyaé; Son Jonathan Rutter, grandchildren: Paris Ileene , Catherine Marie and Stephen Jonathan Rutter; older sister, Shirley Sessburg-Baker (Scott); nephew Paul (Dawn) Scott, a great niece and nephew and a host of friends. Julious was preceded in death by his parents Cary and Corrine McLaurine Jr, along with brother Cary Allen McLaurine III. We may cry and mourn the loss of this father, brother and friend, but let us carry on his memory and raise a glass of Crown Royal and enjoy the memories we all had with him.
