Judith Ann “Judy” McDermott, Age 72, Of Battle Creek, Passed away Friday, October 28, 2011. Judy was born on October 24, 1939, in East Chicago, IN, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Shurman) Meger. She had been a resident of the area since 1974, coming from East Chicago. She was a graduate of Bishop Noll High School in Hammond, IN. She was united in marriage to John Furto in 1957, then to Patrick McDermott in 1974. Patrick preceded her in death in 2010. Judy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved cooking, collecting recipes, sewing, had a love/hate relationship with her computer. Judy was a fun person to be around and was very dedicated to her family. Surviving are daughters, Diane Furto and Christine (Erik) Andrews both of Battle Creek; grandsons, Caleb and Noah Andrews; sisters, Merilou Barnekow and Jean Wittman. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Rev. David Grondz officiating.
