Joyce V. “Jo” Tobias, Age 84, Of Battle Creek, Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 13, 2014. Joyce was born on April 5, 1930, to Donald D. and Agnes G. (Fisher) Story. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 34 years Merle Wayne (Toby) Tobias; her sisters, Darlene and Beverly Story and her brother, David Story. Joyce worked at many jobs throughout the years from registering returning veterans through Ft. Custer to Channing Corporation, but never harder, diligently or more caring then at motherhood. Joyce is survived by her 3 children, Valarie Tobias- Main, David B. Tobias and Pamela Tobias-Green; 12 grandchildren; a niece and nephew and many great grandchildren and a number of cousins, one whom she loved dearly, Jean Story. Toby “Merle” and Joyce were married in 1947 at the tender ages of 19 and 18, respectively together they built homes, raised family and loved their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Joyce’s legacy to all who knew and loved her was her very defined sense of right and wrong, her stubbornness, that worked for and against her and her unconditional love of her family and friends. In her final days, she forgave those that had wronged her and until her last breath reminded her daughter Pamela, how much she loved her. Gratitude is not a strong enough word for the loving care that the staff at The Manor of Battle Creek and Southern Care Hospice gave Joyce in the last year of her life. A private visitation and graveside have been held. Arrangements by the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. www.henryfuneralhome.org
