Josephine Lucille Schray, age 100, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Oaks at North Pointe Woods. She was born February 15, 1914 in Union City, Michigan the daughter of Henry F. and Rose C. (Kelly) Wood. Mrs. Schray attended school in Union City and graduated high school in 1932. She moved to Battle Creek in 1933 where she has resided all her life. She was employed at the Leggitt’s Drug Store and Babcock’s Drug store and also was employed for 8 years at the Kellogg Company and managed a ladies apparel shop for 3 years. After her working years she devoted her time to be a homemaker. She and her husband Carl managed Avonwood Village Trailer Park during the early 1960’s. She did volunteer work in her retirement years with Lakeview General Hospital Auxiliary, Mercy Pavilion and worked as a TV attendant at Leila Hospital. Surviving is one daughter, Leta Rose Decker of Leesburg, FL and one son Winston Schray of Battle Creek, three grand-daughters and one grandson, three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother and one sister. Also preceding her in death were husbands Weldon D. Lee and Carl E. Schray. She loved being with people, mostly family and enjoyed gardening and bird watching. A private family service was held at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Robert Muirhead officiating.
