Joseph J. Rothbauer, age 70, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday September 17, 2016 at the Bronson at Home Hospice Residence. He was born September 24, 1945 in the Bronx, New York the son of Joseph Patrick and Evelyn Esther (Finkel) Rothbauer. Joseph graduated from Lakeview High School in 1963, and then went on to attend Kellogg Community College. For over 30 years Joe worked at the Grand Trunk Railroad retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Misfits Car Club, past secretary for the Grand Trunk bowling league, and also worked at Emmett Rescue Squad for many years. In April of 1992 Joe was married to Barbara E. (Runyon) who survives. Also surviving are his two children: Toni (Dave) Gebeau of Cleveland, Ohio and Chris Rothbauer of Hawaii; two step-sons: Duane (Sue) Eifler and Robert (Wendy) Eifler both of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Joe was preceded in death by his parents. Joe will be dearly missed! He had such a great knowledge of so many things, and enjoyed being with his family and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Cheri Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service.
