Joseph D. DeWeese, 84, of Battle Creek died Tuesday February 11, 2014 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born on October 23, 1929 in Jackson, MI to Joseph H. and Alma (Sayre) DeWeese.
Joe graduated from Jackson High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 until 1951. Joe was employed by Clark Equipment Company from 1952 until he retired in 1986.
Surviving are, his one true love of 63 years, Marilyn, daughters, Kimberly (James) Sovern, of Middleville, MI and Kristina (Brett) Darwin, of Goodlettsville, TN; four grandchildren, Kameron (David) Clark, Kassidy (Steve) Hall, Ean Darwin, and Evan Darwin, one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard L. DeWeese. Joe enjoyed fishing, bowling, wood working, and playing cards.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. His cremains will be buried at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. A gathering for family and friends will be announced later this summer. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are by the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home.
