John Regas, age 70, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Evergreen Manor. He was born April 17, 1948 at Community Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Gust and Eugenia “Jean” (Georgacakes) Regas. John was a 1966 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in 1970 majoring in Economics and Mathematics. Early on he worked in both real estate and retail before joining Sears where he worked as a service technician for 30 years, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed FOX News, listening to Andrew Wommack Ministries, fishing and golf, but most of all loved to help others. He could fix anything and was always available to his friends and family. He enjoyed walks with his dog Kukla and spending time with family. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Nick Regas and Sister-In-Law Laura Regas. Surviving are his sister Linda (Pete) Zeithammel of Galesburg; six nieces and nephews: Cody (Michelle) Zeithammel whom he thought of as a son, Eric (Melissa) Zeithammel, Heather (Rick) Miller, Lea (Aliou) Sidibe, Kara (Scott) Cline and Jacob Regas, and special friends, The Eichholz Family. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Smothers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
