John O'Marrah

John P. O’Marrah, Age 73, Of Battle Creek, Died Wednesday, November 11, 2015. John was born on June 3, 1942, in Iron Mountain, MI, the son of Evelyn (Dokey) O’Marrah. He had been a lifelong resident of the area. John married the former Anna Hudson who preceded him in 2005. He then married the former Sherry Winget-Hill on September 7, 2007, she survives. In his younger years, he worked and traveled with Barnum and Bailey Circus. He then settled in Battle Creek and worked for Service Master, before his 20 plus years as a heavy equipment operator at the VA Medical Center, until his retirement in 1995. He then worked as a senior citizen bagger at Meijer to fill his time. He was a member of the Andrus Street Church of God and a former member of the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed garage sales, was a buy and sell hobbyist, avid bingo player, Boy Scout Leader, clock builder, loved playing cards and spent 30 years camping and fishing. Surviving are children, Candace (Jeff) Graham and John P. (Katie) O’Marrah II; step-children, Cindi (Rick) Wilson and Melissa (Ryan) Nicholas; grandchildren, Joshua Gruell, Christina Graham, Austin, Morgan and Collin O’Marrah; step-grandchildren, Kylie and Braylin Wilson, Casandra, Courtney and Darby McMillon, Jr., Parker Nicholas; step great- grandchildren, Hayden Hamilton and Ripley Murray; a brother, Harold (Jackie) O’Marrah and a sister, Bev (Dan) Raabe; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn and a brother, Donald O’Marrah. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 to 3:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 16, 2015, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
