John C. “Jack” Kimmerly, age 81, of Battle Creek and formerly of Omena, Michigan, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018. Jack was born September 30, 1936 in Alma, Michigan the son of Myles and Beatrice (Smith) Kimmerly. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and attended Michigan State University. Jack served as a volunteer firefighter in Omena for many years, and loved to hunt, fish and read. He was very outgoing and had a great sense of humor. On June 16, 1962 he was married to Annie (Sweetman) who preceded him in death on February 3, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his father, brother: James Kimmerly and brother in law: Charles Berwald. Jack is survived by his two sons: James Kimmerly and Patrick (Patricia) Kimmerly; three grandchildren: Anthony, Maxwell and Dillon Kimmerly; mother Beatrice Kimmerly; sister Karol Berwald; and several nieces and nephews.
