John J. Brunner, Age 69, of Battle Creek, Died Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. John was born on May 29, 1942, in Battle Creek, the son of Howard and Josephine (Prosser) Brunner. He was a graduate of Lakeview High School. John was employed as a mechanic for Erich Henkel before leaving the area in the early 70’s and worked as a mechanic for a dealership in Longmont, CO, before moving to Concord, NC, where he worked for IBM for several years retiring in 1998 and where he has lived for the last 30 years. He enjoyed playing pool and was a member of the American Pool Association. He also enjoyed riding his Goldwing and collecting cars. Surviving are children, Pam Barlond, Tammy Vandegriff, Jeff Brunner and Matt Brunner; grandchild, Austin Brunner ; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Wally Brunner and many friends in North Carolina. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
