John Steven Banaszak, age 69, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014. He was born December 11, 1944 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of John Joseph and Mary Agnes (Joswiak) Banaszak. John attended St. Philip High School and graduated from Lakeview High School. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from August 30, 1966 until September 20, 1968. John loved to hunt and was an avid Bass fisherman; he and his fishing partner Jim Sellers fished in and won many tournaments over the years. He also enjoyed many summer vacations in the Upper Peninsula and was an avid Detroit Lions fan. John retired from the Eaton Corporation after 18 years and was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. On July 22, 1971 he was married to Linda L. Densmore, who survives. Also surviving is his son: Brent John Banaszak; two sisters: Joan Gibson and Pat Adamson; many nieces and nephews and his very good friend Dennis Stacey. John was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Edward and Walter Banaszak; and four sisters: Irene Girten, Stephany Miller, Marion Gibson and Betty Lou Calloway. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014 at St. Jerome Catholic Church.
