Joan Marie Sterrett

Joan Marie Sterrett, age 86, of Battle Creek, died Thursday, February 15, 2024. She was born September 25, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Clyde and Johanna (Van Ittersum) Sterrett. Joan worked at both Jacobson’s and Macy’s as well as at the Federal Center ,where she retired after more than 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was active in C.C.W. for many years. Joan dearly loved her family. She is survived by her three children: Bill (Judith) Kuhn of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sherry (Russ) Carney of Rochester Hills, Michigan, and Jim (Kate) Kuhn of Ann Arbor, Michigan; five grandchildren: Angela Smith, Jessica (Mark) Buckley, Branden (Katarina) Carney, Henry (Marlee) Kuhn and Jake Kuhn; eight great-grandchildren who delighted her, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved partner of 30 years Andrew Tutino, her parents, four brothers and one sister. Joan simply loved helping people and made friends with everyone she met. Her Lakeview Meadows community brought her great joy, as did everyone who provided her with supportive services, including the team at Meijer Shipt and the wonderful staff at Senior Care Partners. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 61 23^rd Street North, Battle Creek. A private interment will be held at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy, Michigan.
