Jo Ellyn Munger

Jo Ellyn Munger, age 78, of Battle Creek, passed away unexpectedly on December 23, 2024. She was born on October 30, 1946, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Orval and Lillian (Thaler) Kokx. Jo was a lifelong area resident, and a 1964 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. She was employed as a clerk typist for the Kellogg Company, retiring in 1995. Following retiring, she decided to go back to work with Employment Group for two years at the Kellogg Company. She was an active member of Cornerstone Community Church, and member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club. Jo loved animals, camping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was married to Wayne Parks for thirty-seven years; he preceded her in death in 2004. Following his death she remarried to Gary Munger, he also preceded her in death in 2020. Also preceding her is death were her parents and a brother, Darrel Kokx. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Jo (Jerry) Arney of Battle Creek, son, Todd Michael (Breezee) Parks of Battle Creek, step-son, Greg (Helen Smith) Munger of Missoula, Montana, step-daughter, Krista (Paul) Antonowitsch of Kalamazoo, sister, Bonnie Bole of Battle Creek, grandchildren; Brayden and Baylee Arney and Kurt Antonowitsch. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday January 3, 2025, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral service scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Cornerstone Community Church, Rev. Paul Parker Officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jo’s memory may be made to Cornerstone Community Church or the Humane Society of South-Central Michigan.
