Died Thursday, January 10, 2019, in Battle Creek. Jimmy was born on September 13, 1946, in Battle Creek, the son of Owen Ray and Virginia (Chase) Hammons. He had been a lifelong resident of the area and attended Battle Creek Public Schools. On February 11, 1967, he was united in marriage to the former Brenda G. Young who survives. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Jimmy was a bartender for several years at the Eagles Tavern and Ruggo’s. He also did Upholstery for several years. He was a member of the P.N.A. Club. He enjoyed motorcycles, socializing and being with his family. Surviving are his daughters, Tina (Larry) Rathbun and Tammy Hammons; 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; a brother, Gentry Ray Hammons and a sister, Jennifer (Bernie) Moore. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019, from 12 to 2:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with a graveside service  to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors at 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to Special Olympics, Michigan. www.henryfuneralhome.org
