Jerold E. White, age 94, of Battle Creek, passed away on September 30, 2023.  He was born on July 19, 1929, in Battle Creek, the son of John E and Audrey (Shores) White.  He was a lifelong resident of the area attending Battle Creek Central High School and Kellogg Community College.  He was a veteran serving in the U. S. Army as a tank trainer. 

He married Ethel “Tootsie” Pursell in 1948, then married the former Carolyn “Susie” Ure in 1973 who preceded him in death in 2009.  He was a member of the DAV, American Legion Post 298 and was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan.  He headed south each year to the Tiger’s Spring Training in Lakeland Florida and prided himself in organizing the kids and grandkids in following him to the Lakeland “Days Inn” where many memories were made.  He was an avid swimmer and enjoyed water exercise at the Battle Creek Y-Center pool where he met his “pool family” every day for many years.  He was employed 37 years with Consumers Power Company as a Customer Service Supervisor until his retirement in 1987. 

Surviving are children, James (Sydonie) White of Dripping Springs, TX., Randal (Jo) White of Battle Creek, and Rebecca (Jerry) Bellinger of Battle Creek.  Grandchildren, Brianna (Mark) Snee of Chesterfield, MO., Alicia (Alex) Krumenacher of Dripping Springs, TX., Anthony (Margie) White of Delton, MI., Steven (Megan) White of Dupont, WA., Amy (Jake) Evans of Gobles, MI, Christian Bellinger of Battle Creek, Matthew (Suzann) Bellinger of Galesburg, MI., Holly (Matthew) Columbo of Gettysburg, PA., and Heather (Tyler) Ward of Battle Creek.  Great Grandchildren, Bella, Willow, Kina, Sutton, and Piper White, Lennon and Noah Evans, Nadia and Tatiana Snee, Silas, Layla, and Harrison Krumenacher, Jaidyn, Madelyn, Jaxx and Dylan Bellinger, Brianna and Vincent Columbo, Liberty and Jax Ward; sister, Joann Westerman and nephew Danny (Candy) Blakley.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Sandra White, brother Kenneth White, sisters, Rosemary Knowles, June Anderson, and Nancy Griffin. 

Graveside service scheduled 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2023 at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in Jerold’s memory to Elara Caring Hospice, 4664 Campus Dr Suite 101A-B, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.  Memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
